Don’t Stray, Don’t Follow

His sword now sheathed

His heart half broken

Asphyxiated world

Now that it’s over

All is over

Walk along the bricks

Of preplanned dreams

He’ll follow this road

Until his feet are split

Calloused and blistered

Sharp edges slice heels

And toes

And passion

Once there was another

A path of dirt and grass

Flowers through the cracks

Leaves line it’s edges

Forgotten trace of humanity

Beautiful and wild

But the other took over

Poured asphalt down its throat

Hands of petrified daisies

Turn leaves to ash

This road is hot and burning

Searing flesh and souls

His feet give out

With his heart and hands

And the ground swallows him whole
